PC333 High-performance

The picoXcell™ PC333 is the industry’s first true baseband system-on-chip (SoC) for public access femtocells / picocells. 

 Supporting 32 channels  for simultaneous voice and HSPA+ data, it conforms to 3GPP local area basestation (LABS) standards. It enables public access small-cells that serve urban hot spots, city centers, rural environments and innovative strand-mounted systems.

The device supports full 3GPP Release 8 functionality, and features receive diversity, MIMO, soft handover and Picochip’s innovative smartSignaling™ technology. As a result it can support the highest 3GPP data rates (42Mbit/s HSDPA, 11.5Mbit/s HSUPA), the industry’s highest number of active users, cell radius greater than 2km and UE speeds of 120km/h. 

Soft handover features are included, leading to fewer dropped calls and better cell-edge coverage. The PC333’s high channel count and channel flexibility means it can cope with the extra channel requirements of soft handover. 

The device supports both the Iub and Iuh interfaces, making it suitable for use in both femtocell (integrated RNC) and traditional picocell architectures.
